Rattycombe Farm, Teignbridge.
Glamping siteFull planning was required for change of use of the client’s field, and this was tricky as it’s within a foraging area for horseshoe bats (a protected species).
The design mitigates this and Natural England were content with our proposals, which included leaving big margins to the woods, specifying low lights only, etc. Included in the design is a wacky welfare unit that will offer toilets, showers and a kitchen area.
The client plans to supply bat detectors to each yurt; this makes a virtue of the bats’ presence and will surely be a hit.
